About Me

Hi there, I’m Will.  I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest.  I played soccer, baseball, and basketball growing up, but never really excelled in any of them.  I only dabbled with fitness every now and again as an adult.

At the age of 32, I started running (yet again), and this time it stuck.  After 6 months, and many pounds lost, boredom set in and I joined a gym.  Joining meant a free session with a personal trainer, and when asked what my fitness goals were, I casually mentioned always wanting to do a triathlon. He assured me I could complete a “sprint distance” tri by the following summer.  I had no idea until that moment that there were different types and distances of triathlons!

I poked around online and found one nearby in July, the Chelan Man, and started training.  I became so hooked on the training itself that by June I found myself signing up for a second tri before I’d even completed my first!  You can read about my experiences in the Race Reports section, or take a look at the latest stuff on the posts page.

I completed the Seattle Marathon in November 2010, and the plan for 2011 was to complete my first half-iron distance tri in May.  That went well, and I ended up doing three more half-irons, plus the Portland Marathon.

In 2012 I went for the big show, and completed Ironman Coeur d’Alene, in Idaho, while raising $2,849 to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.

I hope that this site will be useful to anyone else just starting out in triathlons or fitness in general, and be at least entertaining to everyone else.

Good luck out there, and remember that sleep is the most important aspect of any serious training progra…zzzZZZZZZZZ.
